Very often minor ailments disrupt our daily routine. Earache, whether mild or severe, can disrupt our thought process or focus. They are usually caused by improper care, wax build-up, or trapped water. Sometimes heavy cold causes an earache too. As most types of earaches don’t require medication, before you reach out for the prescribed or over-the-counter drops, you can try a few home remedies for relief.
Cold pack – warm pack
This remedy can be used alternatively. For instance, if you have applied warm pack for 10 minutes, take a gap of 10-20 mins and apply a cold pack. Repeat the remedy until you feel better. This remedy is safer for children too.
Ginger Juice
Please remember DO NOT put the juice into the ear. Prepare the juice and apply it around the outer ear canal. A thin layer should be enough. Since ginger is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, it can easily relieve pain. You can combine ginger with olive oil too. Warm a ginger piece in the oil and apply it around the ear canal.
Garlic Juice
This is another healing herb that contains anti-inflammatory and also anti-bacterial properties. You can warm garlic with sesame oil or olive oil. Crush the garlic before you put them in the oil. Unlike ginger juice, you can apply the oil inside the ear canal for relief.
Basil leaves Juice
Basil has been used as medicine since ancient times. Take a few fresh basil leaves and crush it. Once you get the juice out of the leaves, pour a drop or two into the ears. Make sure the juice is strained. You can combine it with coconut oil as well.
Apple Cider Vinegar
This wonder ingredient finds its place in most lists when it comes to health benefits. It is anti-bacterial and antifungal. For curing an ear infection, heat apple cider vinegar for a couple of seconds and dip a cotton bud. Apply warm vinegar to the painful or infected ear.
